Suppose the group long-term disability policy includes a continuous 30-day actively at work provision. When the three-month probationary period ends for a certain employee, the employee is out sick, as he was for the previous three days, as well. This employee would not be eligible to enroll until he returns to work and works full-time for 30 consecutive days with no intervening absences from work. However, if the 30-day actively at work provision did not include continuous days, coverage would be in place on the 31st day the employee worked.
