ex6-2

Posted on 11.21.21

Figure 6-2 combines several of these features, which are explained as follows: In this case, the probationary period extends for 90 days after a new employee begins work. Because this particular employee was sick and out of work during the last several days of his probationary period, he is not eligible to enroll until he completes 30 additional days of continuous employment. When this requirement is fulfilled, he will be eligible for and can enroll in the long-term disability insurance plan. The employee works for some time, then suffers an accidental injury that leaves him disabled. His group long-term disability plan has a 90-day elimination period and the employer provides salary continuation through a short-term disability policy that imposes no elimination period for disability from accidents. At the end of the 90-day elimination period, the short-term disability's benefit period ends and, because the employee is still disabled, his long-term disability benefits begin.
